Emmerdale star Bradley Riches has announced that he’s stepping away from the ITV soap, leaving fans wondering what comes next for his character.

The actor, who plays Lewis Barton, took to social media to share a goodbye message after finishing his latest stint filming in the Dales.

Sharing a photograph from his final day on set, Bradley wrote: “That’s a wrap at Emmerdale for now!”

However, there is good news for viewers who have grown fond of Lewis, as Bradley has confirmed that he will be returning to the soap in 2027.

The temporary departure comes as the actor prepares to take on a major festive theatre role.

Bradley has been cast as Peter Pan in The Further Adventures of Peter Pan: The Return of Captain Hook at Sunderland Empire.

The production runs from December 11, 2026, until January 3, 2027, giving Bradley the opportunity to take to the stage over the Christmas period.

Bradley joined Emmerdale as Lewis Barton in 2026, with the character arriving in the village while searching for his half-brother Ross Barton.

Since arriving, Lewis has found himself working at the village café and developing a romance with Vinny Dingle.

His portrayal has also been praised for bringing autistic representation to the soap.

Thankfully, Bradley’s departure isn’t permanent, and viewers can look forward to seeing Lewis back in the village next year.

For now, though, the actor is preparing for a very different adventure away from the Yorkshire Dales!
