Linda Carter is set for an explosive confrontation with her old enemy Janine Butcher in upcoming EastEnders scenes, as a shocking revelation leaves her questioning everything.
Linda has been struggling to cope with the disappearance of Mick, but she is now beginning to realise just how deeply his absence has affected their son Lee. His grief has taken a devastating turn, with his drinking getting out of control and even putting his relationship at risk.
Lee has also refused to accept that his father may never return, having revoked Mick’s death certificate because he cannot bring himself to give up hope that he is still alive.
But Linda is about to discover there is even more going on than she first realised.
While Lee is sleeping off a hangover, Linda answers his phone when an unexpected call comes through. What she hears leaves her completely shaken, and she struggles to believe the information being given to her.
With Sharon and Elaine trying to offer support, Linda is left reeling. Matters become even more difficult when Lee causes a scene in The Vic, forcing his mum to step in and deal with the situation.
Feeling she has reached the end of her tether, Linda becomes convinced that Janine is the person who can give her the answers she desperately needs.
She initially struggles to accept Janine’s shocking words, but the revelation continues to play on her mind. Eventually, Linda decides she can no longer ignore it and heads to confront her rival, taking Max along with her.
Max is keen to show Linda that she can rely on him when things get difficult. Having dealt with a child struggling with alcohol problems himself, he believes he understands what she is going through and wants to be there for her.
However, going up against Janine is never straightforward. Even Max could find himself out of his depth as the pair demand answers.
During their second visit, Max makes a decision that could have serious consequences – and one he may come to regret.
