Claire Sweeney could be swapping the cobbles for the Australian jungle, with the former Coronation Street star reportedly in advanced talks to join this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The actress, 55, is said to have caught the attention of ITV bosses after completing her three-year stint playing Cassie Plummer on the ITV soap.
According to reports, Claire has held several meetings with ITV executives and has even cleared her diary ahead of the new series, which is expected to begin later this month.
A source told The Sun that Claire is a huge fan of the reality show and has always fancied taking part.
She is also said to have spoken to her former Coronation Street co-star Alan Halsall about his experience in the jungle after he appeared on the programme in 2024.
Claire has previously made no secret of her enthusiasm for the show, admitting in an interview that she would love to take part.
She said: “I’d love to! I’m a massive fan of the show.”
Her potential appearance would give viewers the chance to see a very different side to the actress, who became a familiar face on television through her roles in Brookside and Coronation Street.
However, nothing has been officially confirmed by ITV, and Claire is still reportedly among the celebrities being considered for the final line-up.
