Soap fans will be disappointed tonight (Friday, November 6), as both Emmerdale and Coronation Street have been taken off ITV’s evening schedule.

The popular soaps, which normally air back-to-back during ITV’s evening soap hour, will not be shown tonight as the broadcaster makes room for live rugby coverage.

Instead, ITV1 will be showing the Nations Championship, with Ireland taking on Argentina in the opening match of the Northern Hemisphere leg of the tournament.

Coverage begins at 7.15pm, with kick-off scheduled for 8.10pm from Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

Unfortunately, this also means viewers won’t get their usual early episodes on ITVX, with neither soap releasing a new instalment at the usual 7am time.

When are Emmerdale and Coronation Street back?

Fans won’t have to wait too long for their next trip to the Dales and Weatherfield.

Both soaps are scheduled to return on Monday, November 9, with Emmerdale at 8pm followed by Coronation Street at 8.30pm on ITV1.

However, viewers will have to get used to another shorter week, with both soaps having just three episodes scheduled next week.

Are you disappointed that ITV has dropped both soaps again to make way for sport?
